About Gland Packing

Gland Packing is a fibrous rope like element which is used to provide a seal around the fasteners inside such as axial nuts in the water pumps to prevent the passage and leakage of the fluids while allowing the shaft to turn. It is made up of the material which is impregnated with graphite and various other materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene, aramid and carbon fibre to improve their sliding properties and heat dissipation.Gland Packing is non corrosive in nature and is completely water and heat resistant.It acts as a mechanical seal which is capable to ensure the uniformity in the pressure level inside the pump to prevent fluctuations.
